Why you should define your fears instead of your goals
Under The Graphite Sky
By Dorothy Trogdon
If you have failed and fallen
as I have, and long to be forgiven,
walk out under the graphite sky
past the grey etched alders
and the tangle of wild rose bushes,
for there is no blame in that wild world.
Each accepts without outcry what comes,
goes on to leaf out and blossom.
Stand among them, let the kindness of rain
and of darkness fall on your shoulders.

Desolation
Here are the lyrics for my song Desolation. This is for Tolga Can Ünal who requested them on twitter….
All along she speaks in a whisper
Delicately crushing the future
In her mouth her tongue is a creature with a trident forkUnderneath the smiles and kind words
You are breaking up into birds that fly, carrying your sparkling entrails outTime is a fickle mistress
She loves your shining distress
Time is the brightest diamond
Cutting through your mindAh, Desolation
Come in a vessel of light
Stride through the demarcation line
To the game inside
Ah, Revelation
Breaks like a collapsed lung
Ah, Desperation
Flares like a starting gunAll along you wonder and worry
All of this is coming to nothing
And you dream of cradles and old yew treesUnderground you’re buried alive
And light is a line we save for the children
There is a tone that’s ringing inside your headTime is a fickle mistress
With a wicked grin
Perception is inviting
You to come on inAh Desolation Bursts like a warning fire
Stride through the demarcation lines to the breath inside
Ah Revelation comes in a strangers mask
And the morning is outstanding you can breathe at lastConsciousness…

New single ‘Wild Grasses’ from my album ‘Dorothy’ which will be released in May.
Crowdfunding success!
I’m delighted to say we’ve now finished crowdfunding for the next Diagrams album ‘Dorothy’. We’ve made lots of new friends along the way and have made around £10,000 which will fund the release of the album in May 2017. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the project and made this release a possibility. It’s also been nice to get radio plays for ‘It’s Only Light’ from Lauren Laverne on 6 Music recommends and John Kennedy on Radio X this week. We’re now busy planning the release and getting all the beautiful artwork put together. Watch this space! If anyone would like to know more about Dorothy Trogdon and her wonderful poetry and perhaps buy her book ‘Tall Woman Looking’ I recommend visiting her publisher’s website here:http://bluebegoniapress.com/catalogtrogdon-dorothy_332.html

Exciting news! Today we launched my Indiegogo Crowdfunding campaign to fund the self-release of my new Diagrams album. The album is a set of songs written with 90-year-old poet Dorothy Trogdon. It’s produced by Mike Lindsay (Tunng, Speech Debelle) and Kristofer Harris (Smoke Fairies, Clock Opera) and features arrangements from Kelly Pratt (Arcade Fire, David Byrne, St Vincent, Beirut) as well as Astra Forward, Danyal Dhondy and Sam Ewens. We’re really pleased with it and can’t wait to get it out into the world…we just need your help to do it! Take a look at the great rewards on the campaign and please share on social media and tell your friends about it.

Here’s a song I wrote to celebrate the centenary of Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity. It’s 100 years to the day since Einstein gave the last in a series of lectures in which he put forward his world changing and mind bending ideas about the nature of space and time and the the world has never been quite the same since. This was produced by Sheffield based Martin Gregory Smith and the artwork and animation is by James Bates. You can also download the song for free by clicking through to the youtube link.
